The Golden Triangle
The peaks and troughs and total rollercoaster of a property market last year impacted across the board with a lack of confidence from vendors and purchasers alike and a 9 fold increase in base lending rate putting a holt on property prices and a drop in market activity in general. Mortgage rates are predicted to fall by almost 25% this year with the main commercial lenders looking to support borrowers with interest only and fixed rate mortgage deals. Fixed rate mortgages have now fallen to the 5% mark or below with an anticipated rate of 4.5%. The reductions in mortgage rates portrays a more positive outlook for domestic buyers not just cash buyers and overseas investors. Reassuringly banks still have the appetite to lend.
The South Hams has always been in a protective bubble and the golden triangle of Salcombe, Kingsbridge & Dartmouth . The golden triangle is really that, with Dartmouth attracting an 83% score as a destination and a 5 star rating for beaches. The boating haven of Salcombe attracted 71% as a must-see destination and ranks highly for boltholes stays on this stunning coastline.
The golden triangle is not the Bermuda triangle, people don’t disappear from here but fall in love with it and stay for a very long time!
